1 Black-headed Gull ALREADY in summer plumage!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

It had nearly all of its black head feathers replacing the white ones! Is this another example of seasons gone mad?

Nah - quite normal for a number of birds to begin to acquire summer plumage from late December.

Some birds often appear from mid-late Nov with partial hoods, either extremely early birds or just birds which have a quite well-marked winter plumage (not late moulters as so many people seem to suggest!)
