VERY quiet hour at Westgate Wood produced:
1 Wren
3 Great Tit
4 Blackbird
2 Chaffinch
1 Robin
Large flock of Starlings in nearby field
A small number of overflying Woodpigeons, finches and corvids (1 Crow heard)
5 Pheasant in fields around the wood
1 Magpie
1 Moorhen
1 Mute Swan
2 Collared Dove
1 Black-headed Gull (heard)
There seemed to be regular disturbance around as I kept hearing what sounded to me like rifle shots being fired close by. It's quite cold out there which might have something to do with the lack of activity......
