Early morning dawn chorus walk produced the unexpected with a male Garganey in front of the main hide on Grebe Lake and the Med Gull which i understand has been in the area for a while
The garganey flew off in the direction of Thorpe Lake at about 07:00 (couldn't see it)
All the warblers were in good song but only heard two Nightingale. Plenty of Blackcap, Whitethroat, Chiffchaff, Willow and Garden Warblers. Also head two Turtle Doves.
Went down to Jobs Lane to see if the Garganey had landed there but the only wildfowl were a couple of Mallard. Also one Dunlin and six plover - two LRP. Hundreds of Sand Martin as you might expect
The Garganey could have landed at the Whisby Road pits but they cannot be accessed at present
