Today had one of the best falls of Scandinavian migrants that I've seen in years, not big numbers but a good variety of species. I had Pyes Hall all to myself for three hours, could have done with a couple of dozen more birders and who knows what would have been found. Highlight was a Red-breasted Flycatcher which showed well halfway between Stonebridge car park and Pyes Hall. Most of the birds were at Pyes Hall which included several Redstart, Wheatear, 2 Ring Ouzel, Song Thrush, Redwing, Lesser Whitethroat, Garden Warbler, Blackcap, Chiffchaff, 6 Goldcrest, 2 Spotted Flycatcher, Chaffinch, 3 ca. Brambling and 6 plus Siskin and lots of Robins. I did see another birder on the way back who also saw a Black Redstart. I think tomorrow will likely be even better, unfortunately I'm now back in the midlands for a week. Good hunting.
