Ten Whooper Swans constituted the best record over the past couple of days. Coverage between Stonebridge and Pye's Hall during this afternoon and early evening seemed quite tranquil after the gales of yesterday when a peak gust of 62 mph was recorded here at Donna Nook. Again, not many waders were present, the best being a Whimbrel and a Spotted Redshank. 490 dark-bellied Brent Geese were accompanied by 2 pale-bellied birds, and other wildfowl were 65 Shelducks, 34 Mallard and surprisingly only the first Gadwall of the year. Also of note were 15 Cormorants, 7 Little Egrets, 4 Short-eared Owls, male Hen Harrier, Great Spotted Woodpecker, 500 Goldfinches, Stonechat and Swallow.
