A winter thrush survey at Austen Fen this morning produced
100 starling
22 blackbird
19 fieldfare
3 Waxwing (on the hawthorn hedge on the west bank of Louth canal c300m s of austen fen bridge
other highlights
1 little egret
1 barn owl
4 stock dove
35 teal
5 snipe
Covenham res
3 goosander
5 tufted (I saw Keith who had had a flock of 100 or so plus scaup fly off following disturbance from a motor boat)
0 great crested grebe, first time I have not year ticked one here in donkeys years
1 little grebe
c90 goldeneye
