I'm guessing you wasn't aware that the Short-eared Owl Photography Club spend each winter camped out there Derick ;)

Birders tend not to go there much in the winter as it can get quite busy with photographers.

regards

Chris

You would think they would have enough SEO shots by now ;-) Joking apart, this sadly will all be coming to an end this year if rumours are correct.

Busy Chris! That's an understatement.
This was my first visit to the site and yes! you heard right Andy.
As on my arrival 2 SAS attired photographers were returning from their latest covert mission out onto the Carr. [-X Apparently to get closer to the SEO.

Many onlookers thought it quite funny they were now getting only distant views, due to the antics of their fellow snappers. #-o
The 18 parked and or constantly moving vehicles and there occupants, mostly I assume members of that 'Short-eared Owl Photography Club' you mentioned Chris, all parading up and down the lane did nothing to encourage the owls to come closer either.

I went some way back up the lane and managed close views of SEO perched on a gate, a fox and barn Owl just sitting in my car. (Me not the barn Owl)
I didn't stay long for obvious reasons.

Two of the photographers I spoke to briefly had travelled up from the Midlands for the 3rd time this winter. So obviously you cant get enough SEO pictures then Stephen.

I Do hope that wasn't both my first and last visit to Worlaby Carr. :(
Can you elaborate on these rumours Stephen?
