The Lincolnshire Bird Club

At Donna Nook this morning there was a bit of movement, 1 Goldcrest, 1 Chiffchaff, 1 Wheatear and a noticeable increase in Blackbirds.
There was a male Stonechat at Horseshoe Point this afternoon.

Also at Donna Nook this morning, there was light northerly passage of Lapwings, Meadow Pipits, a few finches and alba wagtails. There were 4 Common Buzzards as well as a Peregrine which circled and climbed very high before drifting NE and out over the sea and a Red Kite that came in from the Humber mouth and continued SW inland.

I started at donna nook, then grainthorpe and finished at covenham

This evening at Saltfleet there was a large movement of thrushes, ca.300 Redwings, 50 Fieldfare and Blackbirds, they were flying into the strong southerly wind and gaining height, I got the impression that once high enough they were heading out to sea.
The new pools at The Haven had a few Swallows and Sand Martin feeding over them, also there were several Redshank and a Green Sandpiper was calling.

Walked from Stonebridge to Pyes Hall this morning, 2 Ring Ouzel flew in and a Yellow Wagtail flew over. Singing were 1 Grasshopper Warbler, Chiffchaff and Willow Warbler. Just 1 Redwing was seen. There were 6 Golden Plover on the new pools.

Stonebridge to Pye's and back this evening produced a female Black Redstart and a Whimbrel at Pye's and a Jack Snipe just north of the car park.

This just pales into significance when compared to bird reports from the Yorkshire coast and just how poorly situated the Lincolnshire coast is,see Spurn's website for an example here @ http://www.spurnbirdobservatory.co.uk
