Numbers of some migrants were certainly under-counted especially during the periods of driving rain. Many of the early thrushes only landed briefly before passing inland, but there seemed to be a steady stream of new arrivals for much of the day. Counts for the south end this morning were 2,000 Redwings, 300 Song Thrushes, 220 Blackbirds, 30 Fieldfares, 12 Ring Ouzels, 250 Robins, 60 Bramblings, 45 Chaffinches, 4 Mealy Redpolls, Richard's Pipit, Common Redstart, Black Redstart, 20 Chiffchaffs, 3 Blackcaps, Yellow-browed Warbler, 100 Goldcrests, Great Grey Shrike, Swallow, Lapland Bunting, Jack Snipe and Woodcock.
Additional birds that I have heard about between Stonebridge and Pye's Hall as well as the Olive-backed Pipit which I just missed included 3 more Great Grey Shrikes, Yellow-browed Warbler, 7 Ring Ouzels, Wheatear, 200 Goldcrests, 30 Chiffchaffs, 20 Blackcaps, 20 Bramblings, 16 Mealy Redpolls, Swallow and Merlin.
about 60 Robins at Pyes Hall and 2 Redstarts; the Great Grey there reduced the number of Robins by one this afternoon;
