I found a picture on a facebook group of a purple sandpiper taken at Cleethorpes over the weekend. At the wonderland end close to the North wall. The purple sandpiper also seems to have netting wrapped around it's feet

Glad you sent the report Anthony.
A birding friend of mine out with his kids last year, late in the day in October 2012.
He told me he had seen at least 8 Purple Sands. sat on the last Groyne opposite 'Wonderland' (now a car park) before flying off along Humber.

I went next day twice and again several more times in next 2 weeks, while staying just up the road but didn't connect.
So DB. Is this area historicaly good for Purple sands mate?

We used to get one or two wintering on the small rocky area on the beach behind the football ground but not had any for two or three years, your friend having eight on the groyne is decidedly dodgy to say the least, always plenty of winter plumaged Turnstone on there though!

Hi dave.
Don't think the sighting was dodgy Dave. Unusual maybe.
If it hadn't been someone I know very well I might also have thought of those Turnstone that as you say regularly roost on that Groyne. He said he was surprised to see them himself and that his last Purple Sand. sighting was a couple of years ago just outside Bridlington Harbour on the concrete wall.

Sorry for late reply but I Have already posted this once but it appears to have gone AWOL.
