Apologies for not posting this last night, it was tweeted at the time, not sure if everyone will have seen it.
Whilst looking for the Hoopoe, with Nige Lound who originally saw it, we were stood at the north end of Gib Pt reserve near the sheep paddock, when a GW Egret flew in low from the north. It dropped into sedges about halfway down the freshwater marsh which is adjacent to the Mere at its lower end. It disappeared behind cover after a few moments and we didn't see it again, so not sure if its still in there or if it flew on when we left to move to a better viewing position. A red-backed shrike (male) had also been reported earlier by a single observer, again at the north end but also proved impossible to re-locate.

Regards

Phil, with Nige Lound
