A singing male Icterine Warbler was trapped and ringed at the south end at 0640. Later at 0850, a Greenish Warbler was trapped at the same place. Neither bird was seen again after being released. Very few other migrants were apparent and the only birds of note during the day were 2 Cuckoos, a Spotted Flycatcher, 6 Yellow Wagtails, a Wheatear and a Sandwich Tern.

At least it shows the birds are around if you can find them. I did Pyes Hall and only saw a Spotted Flycatcher, 1 Whinchat and 3 Wheatear.

Maybe a mist net should be carried along with binos and a scope by every keen birder or would that be illegal?
Today 7 Swift flew through Pyes Hall but none were the Pallid that flew south from Spurn and no other passage birds were seen.

Between Pyes Hall and Quad 3 today my limited highlights were:

1 Turtle Dove
5 Cuckoo
1 Wheatear
1 Spotted Flycatcher
9 Corn Bunting

Also a pair of Tawny Owls have successfully bred with 2 young seen

My only significant additions between the coastguard cottages and Quad 3 were 50 Swifts, Garden Warbler, 2 Spotted Flycatchers and 11 Long-tailed Tits.
