Highlights from the south end this morning included the first Pomarine Skua of the autumn heading south over the sea at 1025, 18 Ruffs, 14 Whimbrel, Green Sandpiper, Common Sandpiper, Common Buzzard, Kingfisher and Great Spotted Woodpecker. An evening visit Stonebridge to Pye's Hall produced a good tern roost movement with 5,600 Common Terns, 20 Arctic Terns, a Black Tern and 11 Sandwich Terns counted. Most of these settled at Horseshoe Point, but several hundreds later trickled to the south. Other birds of note included a Great Skua, 2 Mediterranean Gulls, 20 Common Scoters, 126 Greylag Geese, 12 Whimbrel, 2 Common Sandpipers, 3 Avocets, 2 Greenshanks and 2 Ruffs.
