this is not news but another plea for a conclusion of an outstanding Lincolnshire record

I recently noticed that in the RBA January write up Mark Golley mentioned that the 2 Pacific Golden Plovers at North Cotes (Horseshoe Point) in July 2002 had never appeared in print -- I have checked with the BBRC sec and in spite of my assumption that the birds had been submitted it appears that the birds have never gone to BBRC

In the Lincs Scarce and Rare Bird Report for 2000-2002 there is no actual text referring to the birds but a photograph by Barry Clarkson of one of the birds under which the text says Pending BBRC acceptance

SO in essence two adult summer Pacific Golden Plovers were reported at Horseshoe Point on July 17th 2002 in the evening? can someone confirm this is correct?
On July 18th only one bird could be found amongst the Golden Plover flock but it was photographed by BMC and badly by GPC --
at least one bird was reported on July 19th by whom?

Although we have the photos does anyone actually have any notes / descriptions of these birds even to confirm there were actually two? The birds were widely twitched so someone must have some notes surely?

Two birds there were on the evening of 17/7/02. When Dave Bradbeer and myself arrived at Horseshoe Point, the Goldie flock was on the outer edge of the salt marsh off the car park. Whilst Bradders was sorting out his boots/gear, I scanned the flock, picked out the first bird and alerted him. Very soon after that the second bird was found by Dave, close to the first. At that point we were joined by Chris Atkin, Tony Housman and John Spring and we set off across the marsh to get closer views, texting GPC, Howard Bunn and, I think, Birdguides as we walked. The flock stayed around the outer marsh through the evening and the above named observers, along with amongst others, Howard Bunn, Barry Clarkson, Mike Tarrant and Steve Meek, had excellent views of both Pacific goldies as they fed, sometimes side-by-side, amongst the Goldie flock, from around 7pm till dusk.

That's useful Ian: can 7 observers put something together for BBRC? To go with the photos

This is now in hand and will be submitted, at last, to BBRC today
