Yesterday, 01 April, I walked through Woodhall Spa Golf Course and heard no chiffchaffs, locating my first for the year in Lincs. in Highall Wood. This morning a walk through the GC produced six singing birds. I first heard one this year in Devon on 22 March. My first blackcap was also in Devon, on 24 March, but I haven't heard one here yet. Progress against the prevailing winds has been slow.

2nd April In Woodhall this afternoon 29 species with the highlights being:
Black Swan 1
Oystercatcher 2
Redwing 2
Chiffchaff 6

Yesterday a Barn Owl hunting around 3pm - the windy conditions make hunting by sound impossible so they have to hunt by sight?
Also Pinkfeet: presumably the same flock of 14 still present by the Witham.
