The Lincolnshire Bird Club

Circumstances dictated a different Saturday birding venue this morning and called at Tetney Marshes (Fitties yacht club pools).

Highlight was a wader that I suspected was a Pectoral Sandpiper but didn't have scope so couldn't be certain. Texted Chris Atkin with my thoughts and he called in to the site tonight and found the bird and confirmed it was a Pec.

Chris has tweeted a record shot and said Keith Collett and Bill Meek also connected with it.

Really pleased to self-find this Lifer.

Nice one, James. Bird still present this morning

Still there at 1015 when I left Roy & Linda filming it. However it was much farther into the Marsh than earlier in the day.

It was still present this evening ( Monday) between 7.30pm an 8.30pm.

Although it tends to retire to a more central location in the marsh during the day when lots of people and their pets are about, during the early evening it seems to favour the first pool nearest the field at the junction of the coastal walk to Tetney Lock. Thata's a good time to watch it a) because it is relatively close, b) because of favourable light, especially if the sun is shining and c) because there aren't too many dog walkers about.

Also present this evening two little grebe, two redshank and two herons, plus several juvenile pied wagtails and little egret (and one whitethroat).

Earlier in the day, there were a couple of black-tailed godwits and a dozen or so dunlin, but they seemed to have moved on.
