A walk around the local patch this morning produced a locally unprecedented count of Shoveler with 56 birds present on one of the farm reservoirs. Unsurprisingly when I checked the latest 2014 Bird Report this count was comparable or even surpassed some of the more major wetland sites in the county. Other birds present were;

Gadwall - 2
Mallard - 14
Pochard - 5
Tufted Duck - 6
Little Grebe - 3
Coot - 2
Moorhen - 1

A Chiffchaff also showed well in adjacent bushes.

Another farm reservoir held 2 Wigeon along with Mallard, Tufted Duck and Coot
