The Lincolnshire Bird Club

There had been a notable influx of ducks at the mere this afternoon and I was busy counting them when they all began flying around. I looked up from my scope to see a Great White Egret flying low over the mere scattering the ducks. I expected it to land in the east bay where 2 Grey Herons were feeding but it gained height and flew over the trees and away east. This is only the 2nd record for the patch following on from a bird which was at the mere on 14th and 16th September last year.

When I resumed counting the ducks this was the result:-
128 Teal
64 Gadwall
26 Mallard
19 Shoveler
8 Tufted Duck
4 Wigeon
3 Pintail

Hi Andy,
Isn't this great white egret the third record for the mere? There was one videoed a few years back,when I was still living up there,by someone who didn't know or wasn't sure what it was.
