while tying to demonstrate the beauty of a 4-spotted chaser to a group of participants on a walk at Alkborough Flats a Whiskered Tern apparently flew behind me before continuing eastwards; the lone observer, who shall remain nameless, descended into a melee of expletives while trying to get me onto it from 800m away through a reedbed! -- no sign on Barton pits last night assuming it continued east; 5 Sandwich Terns and several Commons moved east down the Humber on Friday past Barton; this just shows the dangers of being a multi-disciplinarian naturalist in mid-summer |
