Post subject:  RSPB Freiston Shore - 05/09/09 Pec sand etc

Hi,

Pectoral sandpiper - well marked juvenile showed well in front of the hide on the lagoon for just 30 seconds before flying off south calling at 07:20. Didn't relocate it on the reservoir.
Greenshank - 69 (mostly on reservoir)
Curlew sandpiper - 1 (lagoon)
Swift - 1
Whinchat - 3 (wetland trail)
Grey wagtail - 1
Yellow wagtail - 20
Willow warbler - 10
Chiffchaff - 3
Pied flycatcher - 1/2 along the track by the bird hide
Ruff - 1 (reservoir)
Peregrine - 1
Marsh harrier -1
Sparrowhawk - 1
Black-tailed godwit - ca. 1,000
Golden plover - ca. 1,000

Evidently a small but not insignificant arrival of migrants up and down the east coast in (south)westerlies today, what do you reckon happened to the other half of the Pied Fly?

Clearly an albicollis hybrid.... :wink:
