Highlights from this afternoon's 3hr 15min visit: Kestrel - 2 displaying Marsh Harrier - 1 hunting fields just behind reserve Whooper Swan - 10 heading (unbelievably) SOUTH along Welland circa 17:00 Usual duck species - Mallard, Wigeon, Shelduck, Pintail, Shoveler, Teal, Tufted, Pochard Great Crested Grebe - 5 pairs Little Ringed Plover - 5 Ringed Plover - 3 Avocet - about 30 Lapwing everywhere Twite - flock of 50 or so with 5 Linnet mixed in White Wagtail - 4 Pied Wagtail - 2 Chaffinch - pair displaying and calling Reed Bunting - everywhere Tree Sparrow - plenty on feeders STILL no Swallows seen, or indeed ANY summer migrants! This is the worst luck I've ever had with them! Forcefield still in operation, seemingly... |

No summer migrants yet Katherine but it is only a couple of weeks since you were saying the same about twite. Patience - any day now |
