The resident Boston Swift population appear to have departed overnight of the 6-7/08 which according to my records is 4 days later than in 2009. Certainly their wheeling and dashing through the air coupled with the long drawn harsh screaming is a sound and sight I shall personally treasure from high summer for yet another year. I hope to see a few stragglers throughout the month but I find that on passage they are usually silent.

Agreed - they can brighten the most dull and fruitless of shopping trips!

a gathering of 300 over the Humber fields by Stallin Power station in humid weather on the 7th and 150 over my garden the same evening so some big numbers still around but local birds do seem to have moved off and these seem to be transients?

One over the garden in Coningsby this morning - it was on a mission and not feeding or hanging around!

First one seen locally for a period of a few days.

Still around over Louth, though not in such large numbers.

6 Swifts over Blankney Golf Course 8am 10th August - didn't stay around long. First seen in this area for several days - since 5th August.
