mid afternoon after snow then bright sunshine,
redshank 270, dunlin 760, snipe 24,cormorant 33, peregrine 2 chasing a lone incoming blackbird low over beach , the blackbird avoided several snatches and crash dived into saltmarsh vegetation, and the peregrines then made off towards Saltfleet. regards John.

Assuming blackbird was a new arrival, amazing to think that after a North Sea crossing it was able to avoid a couple of perigrines, that's some stamina, it deserves to live. (What a welcome though!)

A reasonable ENE wind would have assisted the blackbirds flight and both pegs looked 1st year plumage and both showed some inexperience,
there was also c 400 lapwing and 250 golden plover which were also
fresh arrivals , i assume the big freeze in northern europe is moving birds on ,as per the Gib observations suggest. cheers John.
