A very snowy scene throughout with most arable fields devoid of birdlife except for considerable numbers of Wood Pigeon at Eastville. However there were some interesting sightings: Maud Foster to Old Leake North level crossing. Plenty of mature bushes along this 5 mile section. Probably in excess of 200 Fieldfares. Bellwater Drain. Buzzard 2 One appeared to have just seized a rabbit at the bottom of the railway embankment. Little Steeping. Kestrel 2 and 13 Stock Doves. Firsby. Kestrel 3 Thorpe Culvert. Snipe 2 Steeping river(frozen) Cormorant 7 Sat on concrete culvert top Havenhouse/Croft Marsh. 3 large parties of Lapwing in flight probably in excess of 400 Seacroft. Stonechat 1 on top of a solitary bush |

Sounds like a good way to go birding in this weather George! I got a walk yesterday and saw 1100 wood Pigeons feeding in a rape field. About 14 inches of snow in Grasby when we got up this morning, everything at a standstill. Roy |
