Hi,

Waxwing - Four on wires by one of the houses at the entrance for a few minutes before flying off North.
Whooper swan - Four on Marsh Farm
Marsh harrier - Three on the saltmarsh
Merlin - saltmarsh
Fieldfare - 300
One 4x4 grounded while doing 3-point turn on sea bank until rescued by tractor - priceless
The ice on the ditches & pools is so thick that it only just broke when we drove over it with an 8 tonne tractor. I reckon a car would be OK (but please don't try on the reserve!). It was -11 here at 9am yesterday.

As the reserve is still frozen/covered in snow, the local roads are in a poor condition and we're currently without adequate heating in the Visitor Centre the VC will remain closed until at least Saturday.

Cheers,

John
