A mirky morning with the horizon thumb smudged into the sky, the Reserve remains frigid although some green pasture was given back to the wild and starved. Redwing, mistle thrush, starling, magpie and fieldfare searched this gift until a hint of sparrowhawk was announced by a local blue tit and they were off. Surrounded by thick ice slabs 8 bar tailed godwit and a single grey plover fed on Chowder mud closest to the River, a bearded tit called from reeds to the right of ness hide but otherwise the struggle goes on. Reported to me by recording form on 11th was - hen harrier over ness buzzard around ness, perching in all sorts of places, including the roof of reedy hide and the kestrel box. A bittern that came out into the centre of ness pit and remained there for an hour and a half. (thank you for all the additional information on the recording forms) |

3 Bitterns and Buzzard from a very cold (no heating switched on yet) Ness hide on 12th otherwise a plethora of Woodpigs and 2 Sparvs but little else moving or lving oh and a SINGING male TREECREEPER Andy right outside the hide |

Good work Mr Cat although I can't belive you keep seeing my bogey bird. Steve, GPC has had decades of pleading from me but he just creases his forehead in a way that makes me take cover. I will probably get a bird form from him before I get to see the creeper!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
