There are now 2 pairs of Spotted Flycatchers in Dunsby. One pair has chicks, I'm not sure about the other pair. Hugh Dorrington |

Great news, Hugh. After we had tracked down that first pair in Dunsby in May, you said that a second pair would be found sooner or later......and they have been. ![]() Freddy |

Thanks, Hugh, for showing me around Dunsby today. Dunsby is a beautiful village and it's a privilege to visit such a pleasant and idyllic place. Also a pleasant experience to watch the pair of Spotted Flycatchers in the Dunsby garden and to home in on their chicks in the clematis-fringed nest waiting for their regular feed...........and not forgetting, of course, that the Dunsby pair was my first Sp Fly sighting of 2011 (25 May). After their earlier failed nesting experience, they've (hopefully) succeeded at this (late) second attempt, hence the chicks still being in the nest......they should fledge soon. A most enjoyable visit. Freddy |

I am sure one pair really belongs in Rippingale; we had two pairs last year and none that I can find this year.... Ian |

........and none that I can find this year in Rippingale either, Ian, albeit in my two brief visits this summer. I spent an hour looking around the churchyard, Manor House/Manor Stables area on 25th May with no success and yesterday before visiting Hugh in Dunsby I spent another hour doing the same......before calling in for 'inspiration' at "The Bull". ![]() It was a relief later to feast my eyes on the Dunsby Spotted Flycatcher adults and chicks in the nest. On the way home later to BBH, I also called in at the churchyards (and immediate areas) in Billingborough (where the local vet had reported Sp Fly) and Aswarby.....but again NTR. Freddy |

Family party of Spotted Flys yesterday at the back of Nocton Wood House. At least two fledged juveniles with the parents. Also family parties of Treecreeper and Coal Tit in the same area. All logged down as "Roving Records" for TF06. Cheers, David Cohen |

Hi Freddy, Give me your email address and I will send you a picture of the 2009 Rippingale Spot Fly's nesting in a hanging basket. Best regards, Ian |
