At 0800hrs. this morning a Little Egret flew lazily over the farmyard. This is my first record for Baumber although they have been reported before in the Bain valley.

Also today I saw my first covey of Grey Partridge of the season. A pair of adults with 8 wellgrown juvs. flushed from a wheat field.

Lots of water on Spendlows Mike and some trickling into ditch on backstreet but no waders seen,
( no muddy margin ) regards John.

The pump has been off for a week now John, so the waters should soon start receeding revealing some wader habitat!
