I heard a Willow Warbler singing in the garden first thing this morning so I thought they might be a few migrants about and checked the Dunsby Sewage Treatment Works- a small site but good for migrants in the autumn. Very pleased to find a fine male Redstart as well as several Common Whitethroat and Chiffchaffs. Ian Misselbrook visited later in the day and saw the Redstart plus Blackcap, Willow Warbler and Spotted Flycatcher. Hugh Dorrington |

Hugh, Your first report of migrant Spotted Flycatcher and Common Redstart today (6th August) at Dunsby STW coincides nicely with James Siddle's report also today of his first 'autumn' Spotted Flycatcher and Common Redstart at Donna Nook. It won't be long now before I shift the focus of my tracking Spotted Flycatchers to STWs and the Coast, hopefully when numbers swell to double figures as aided by diverted Scandinavian birds. Although Spotted Flycatcher autumn movements can begin late July, but chiefly from August, it's interesting to note that on the very same day (6th August) as the above two 'migration' reports, I was still watching Spotted Flycatcher chicks being fed in the nest at Riseholme College.
