Is it just me or are there a lot of Siskins arriving this autumn? They appear to be everywhere I go at the moment and comprise mainly juvenile birds - many still in juvenile plumage, indicating that they have had a really good breeding season. Spurn has reported high numbers there and two weeks or so earlier than usual. Could be a very good winter for this species. Other reports suggest that these are northern British birds as movements along the coast have not been replicated yet on the northern islands. Alan |

Also hearing seeing Siskins all over the place since last week, some joining up with flocks of Goldfinches and Linnets on arable weed crops. |

I've had Siskins in and over my garden everyday for at least the last week. And whilst cycling about am hearing them everywhere. |
