Showing well at 19.00 last evening at sea wall end of lagoon. also..... 2 Little Stints 100+ Golden Plover 200+ Oystercatchers Dunlin Sanderlin Ruff 100+ Knott Red Shank Little Grebe Black Tailed Godwit Not bad for 20mins ! |

Can anyone please confirm that the Dowitcher was still present at Freiston this afternoon? Friends from Yorkshire are enquiring in advance of a possible visit tomorrow. Thanks, Roy |

I had the LBD at Frampton at 07:20 this morning. I was alerted by the distinctive call (which I'd heard at Freiston on Thursday, so it was fresh in my mind) and picked it up coming in from the saltmarsh direction, it dropped down onto the Reedbed. Presumably it would have stayed, but a male peregrine and a sparrowhawk caused havoc in tandem over the Reedbed/Scrapes at around 08:15, so I guess it returned to Freiston, as it was seen there at 10ish (otherwise we have a two bird theory!). Cheers, John according to Google earth if it moved over the saltmarsh, as you might assume, then it would be 7kms between the two sites -- it is possible but may be worth checking out the 2 bird theory |
