Over Sloothby this morning from 9am til 10:30am visible redwing migration was taking place in ernest, flocks ranging in size from ones and twos up to over 100 kept passing through at a steady pace, travelling west.
The total by the end was in excess of 1100 birds, the vast majority being redwing, with odd blackbird, song thrush and mistle thrush accompanying. No fieldfare noted.
The birds were relatively silent, only now and then would the familiar tseep call be heard, however as the morning progressed and more birds were dropping down as opposed to passing over, then the volume rose.
An extremely enjoyable mornings watching.
Also 10 golden plover came over too.
