Fabulous afternoon walk along the Frampton side of the Witham towards the river mouth, but fairly quiet bird-wise. Totals as follows :

Brent 2000+ feeding on the salt marsh opposite the Hobhole outfall
Little Egret 12
Spoonbill 1 imm, flew in from N and disappeared towards the reserve
Hen Harrier 1 ringtail
Sparrowhawk 1
Peregrine 1
Knot c.5000 other side of the Welland

No sign of the Gt Grey Shrike though, prey value of the area seems low so surprised it stayed as long as it did.

Sounds like the shrike has gone then.

Apparently the Spoonbill had been seen earlier at Freiston Shore, then afterwards heading across the Frampton saltmarsh towards Kirton Marsh.

Barnacle Goose - 8
Pink-footed Goose - 32

Peregrine - 1
Hen Harrier - 2 (male and ringtail)

John
