A very quick look out over the Fen, arriving after sunset but still managed to see:
3 x Barn Owls
1 x Little Owl
1 x possible Short Eared Owl - close views but in silhouette picked up initially on call in flight - a single repeated mid to high toned 'chow' note or 'kyow'. Distinctive but ive never heard anything like it before. Can anybody else perhaps confirm? It was definitely an owl of some sort.
Also distant view of a possible peregrine. It dived off a telegraph pole with prey and I got rear views only. Ive never seen a peregrine sat on a telegraph pole so it could potentially have been a kestrel but it appeared to be too big for a kestrel and heavy chested with distinctive ashy grey coloured wings.

Matthew.
