Post subject:  First Autumn Redwing in BBH Garden

Finally, the first Redwing of the autumn appeared in my Bracebridge Heath garden this morning (Wed), joining the recently arrived 6 Blackbird which are also probably visitors from the Continent.

Slowly but surely these birds are now coming into the garden from the nearby woods and hedgerows ( with garden Hawthorn berries being one attraction ) plus returning Dunnock, Robin, Chaffinch, etc.

Meanwhile, the masses of bright red Sentinel Crabapples await more esteemed visitors ........dream on. :D :)

Chris,
I think the delay may well have been due to the nearby (countryside) heavily-berried wooded areas and hedgerows having provided an extra substantial food source for the Thrushes.
