A bright, breezy morning on the patch produced more bird activity than of late. Mere now only 50% frozen. Highlights were:- 29 Shoveler, 18 males. 26 Teal. 6 Pochard, 4 males. 1 male Goosander. 2 Buzzards. 2 Sparrowhawks. 1 Kingfisher, on main drain sluice. 13 Skylarks, on stubble field. 2 Song Thrushes. 2 Treecreepers. c30 Greenfinches. 10 Bullfinches, feeding on Willow buds (parties of 7, 2 males and 3, 1 male). 6 Reed Buntings, on stubble field. |
