I had a lovely surprise on the morning of Christmas Eve; having just checked the car, prior to setting off for Cumbria to spend Christmas with our son and his family, I glanced up at the electricity wires by the roadside and saw a Waxwing, I dashed inside to tell Linda and to fetch some binoculars. A closer check showed that two Waxwings were present and they were feeding on viburnam berries. My next thought was to get a photo of at least one of them and I returned indoors to fetch the camera and big lens, but when I went out again the visitors had departed - not to return.
This is only the second time in the 40 years we have lived in Grasby that Waxwings have been seen in our garden.

Sorry about the belated report but it had slipped my mind until I was getting our 2011 sightings ready for Colin & Sheila.

......."wrath" ?....... a lovely word, but I don't think I've got much of that left now, having mellowed with the passing years, of course. :D :) Mind you, IF (and it's a very big IF ) Roy had suppressed 'Waxwings at Grasby' and they had stayed around for a week or two, instead of a minute or two, well, that would have been another story, I suppose.
