Hi All.
Following up on a report of a dipper in Greetwell Hollow from yesterday spent 2 hours checking the stream but no success, but a few things of note.
Yellowhammer at least 4 prs
Bullfinch lots of 1s-3s m&f total c20
Redwing
Fieldfare 3
Long tailed tit as bullfinches
Song thrush
Collared dove a rare bird for the hollow
Teal.

On the walk in
Tree sparrow 2 nest site prospecting on the winter stream.
60+ Mpipit and suspect water or even rock as well, quite a bit of pink floating around.but could'nt be too sure as I only had bins as I was exploring in thick undergrowth. These were around the public footpath in the old quarry.
Cheers
Brian.

Spent an hour early this morning but to no avail. There are some nice stretches of the stream that cry out for a Dipper to be sat on one of the rocks in the water but there are also a lot of places it could be hidden in the thick undergrowth.

Needs more eyes looking.

Brian,

Just out of interest and so as to give some background to the sighting, is it possible on your LWT admin net to discover the details of the original report to LWT of the recent Greetwell Hollow Dipper/presumed Black-bellied ?, of Lincs 'vagrant' status : on Wed 29th Feb = + 4 days now.

I am sure it would be of some interest to those LBC birders who have been/are still going for the bird to know that the original report was along the lines of......"I had good views of a Dipper/BB curtseying on a rock before it flew upstream; I have previous experience of the bird."......or was it along the lines of.....????

Hopefully, the reported bird is still around and will be seen again in the near future. :D

Freddy

Freddy et al.
Report received from Dave Bromwich of the trust.

It was apparently observed by the partner of Caroline Steel of the trust who was walking the dogs who flushed it from the stream and who has experience of them in the Derbyshire dales even though he admits he is not a birdwatcher!!

Has any one checked the continuation of the stream around the back of the Allenby trading estate? not had a chance myself due work and weather.

Brian.
