This morning I went to the Scrapes (next to the Environment Agency depot, just down the road from Fiskerton Fen nature reserve); not sure if they have an official name? Was there for an hour and saw; Shelduck Little Egret Hare Pied Wagtail Oyster Catcher Canada Geese Mallard Lapwing Bl Headed Gulls Skylark Wood pigeon Carrion crow Grey Heron Starling Cormorant Kestrel and what looked like a F Goosander but it was across the field (I need a scope) but could be totally wrong. This is my first post so I hope this is the accepted format. Ian |

Welcome to the forum Ian. Your post looks fine to me - perhaps numbers seen would give a little more info but easier said than done when lapwing, mallards, geese and gulls are spread out all over the site. Was there much water in the scrapes. Usually fairly deep at this time of year but dries out to the back end of summer. The site is now in to its second or third year and is just part of Fiskerton Fen. People usually distinguish it as you have by calling it FFscrapes |

Thanks for the post Ian, found that useful as been wondering if the Fiskerton scrapes were surviving the drought, they were bone dry last time I went there. Before Christmas. Andrew |

Thanks, Chris and Andrew, for the replies. There was a great deal of water, most I've ever seen, although I've only been going there for about 12 months. Rarely see anything in the scrapes immediately in front of the hide but almost always plenty to see to the right (looking out). Cheers Ian |
