The Trust grassland between Rimac and Seaview that has recently been scraped and a new bank created by the road is now holding water in the lower scrape areas and by the river edge where the recent heavy rains have caused some over-topping. This is exactly as planned and hoped for. Peter Rowarth reports this afternoon that birds have found the area to their liking with 25 Black-tailed godwits, 1 of which was colour ringed, 4 curlew, 63 black-headed gulls, 2 herring gulls, 2 lapwings and 2 pied wagtails.

Out from Brickyard Lane, the developing marsh area is also holding water after the rains and there were 3 whimbrel, 2 common gulls, 1 lesser black-backed gull, 1 greater black-backed and 2 pied wagtails.

Last evening 10 new curlews in at the S-T NNR Brickyard lane area. The new curlews in still call as if on breeding grounds.

Regards
Cliff
