I can't be sure whether or not it was an escapee or a genuine blow-in, but there was a Ring-necked Parakeet in the tree-tops along London Road in Wyberton at around 11:30 this morning. Showed well for five minutes or so before flying off towards Frampton/ Kirton.

It caused quite the stir in my office! I usually get a bit of gentle teasing for bringing my binoculars to work with me but, funnily enough, they were quite happy to borrow them today!

Our regular Sparrowhawk later made an appearance around 2pm.

Nice one Dan. This is rare enough to be a description species in the county, despite how colourful they are!

My company has its head office at Sunbury on Thames so I see flocks of these every time I go there. The numbers have risen steadily over the years so the range must be expanding by now. Crawling back home round the M25 last week I saw (near the Heathrow junction) 1 x Sandwich tern, 1 x Green Woodpecker and 1 x Osprey ! I don't know whether to start a car list or an M25 list :D

Thanks John. You're my local recorder. I take it that I just e-mail you a full description of the sighting - i.e. time, date, place and then observations of the bird itself?
