Osprey carrying a fish seen flying past the end of my Frampton garden at 5.35pm today. Thanks to the alarm calling herring gull. 97th species for the garden.

Knowing your garden John, where did it catch the fish ? what species of fish was it, and does it count in the 97 total ?!

Where did it catch that fish? One of life's lesser unsolved mysteries I suspect. It was flying toward the Wash with the fish, so I really haven't a clue, perhaps it brought dinner down from Scotland. Presumably the same bird was then seen on the Welland the following morning and on a pylon outside our Frampton office later in the day eating a(nother) fish. You can still see more in a day at Gib than I've seen from my garden (in 10 years Terry)!
