Hi David, are they on the big/canoe lake or the smaller one nearer Norton Disney?
Thanks,

Hi Oliver

They are on the main Thurlby Pit, access opposite the Swinderby airfield gateway, lots of wildfowl, so can take a while to locate them.

Regards David

Hi all,

3rd visit, finally succeeded just when I was beginning to doubt they were there at all,

You have to be patient and somewhat lucky but yes there is 2 Black Necked Grebes on Thurlby lake at present (13.00- 14.20 Tuesday).

also present are 2 Little Egrets, plus a huge amount of wild fowl including the odd Goldeneye, lots of Shoveler, Wigeon, Teal, Tufted Duck, Mallard, Pochard and Gadwall. Also 8 Little Grebe and 12 Great Crested Grebe and lots and lots of coot!!

Mark

I notice Trevor Gunby photographed a Mandarine at Kirkby Pits today ( 3rd Nov )
I would have thought this was the same bird as the one I had at Thurlby last week ?
