Couldn't resist another trip to Gibraltar Point again today.
Arrived at first light on a very gloomy morning. 50 yards visibility first thing and again at the end of the day. It did lift somewhat around mid-day but not for long. Did go down to the beach at Mill Hill but couldn't see the sea.
It was evident driving the last mile of the trip down from Skegness to the North car park that there were lots of birds about
On leaving the car birds were everywhere. The greatest difficulty was in seeing them because of the fog and then estimating the numbers of what could be seen.
Apparently there were far more birds yesterday but nevertheless the numbers were impressive
I was chuffed in seeing two ring ouzels but was brought back to Earth by John Shaughnessey who saw an impressive twelve!

Redwing c3000 estimated
Fieldfare c1500 estimated
Blackbird c1500 estimated
Ring Ouzel 2
Black Redstart 1 female visitor centre
Barn Owl 1
Chiffchaff 2
Blackcap 2 female
Goldcrest c50
Song Thrush 20
Goldfinch 200
Starling 200
Wren 12
Robin 250
Long Tailed Tit 10
Chaffinch 20
Mealy Redpoll 1
Weasel 1 in the plantation
2 Muntjac Deer in the plantation
Good selection of birders as well
Kev Wilson, John Shaughnessey, Rob Watson, Colin & Sheila Jennings and Nige Lound showing me parts of Gib I had never seen before

With reference to the Thrush Rush at Gibraltar Point we saw much the same as Chris but with the following variations:

Swallow 15
Blackbird c100 much less than Chris
Redwing c3000 same as Chris
Fieldfare c2000
Blackcap 1
Black Redstart 3 - female at Field Centre, male and female near Harvey's Hide
Ring Ouzel 4 - 3 in bushes between Field Centre and Lil's Hut and one in puddles opposite Yacht Club building
Little Egret 3
Robin c20 much less than Chris
Didn't see Kev!

Cheers,

Colin and Sheila
