2 Nuthatches at Market Stainton this morning, one of which was a male originally ringed in 2011. A male Sparrowhawk (at least 3rd winter) also ringed as well as various Tit species. Out of over 30 Great, Coal and Blue Tits processed, only 3 were this years birds which enforces the view that 2012 was a dire breeding season for a lot of species.

Stuart,

Am also finding higher proportion of adults than previous years - but nowhere near as high as yours. Great/Blue/Coal Tits yeasterday = 23 first year and 9 adults. (Nuthatch and 3 Marsh Tits unaged) Did come across one Great Tit infected with Avian Pox a few weeks ago, but fortunately all 16 yesterday looked OK, so perhaps we will not see a repeat of last years high infection rate.
