At least 20 Waxwings were back today at the southernmost Rowan, at the Tentercroft Street car park entrance, which the territorial Mistle Thrush has defended for so long. Along with 20 Starlings and 6 Blackbirds with a fed up (but well fed!) Mistle Thrush looking on hopelessly, the remaining berries will do well to last the week-end.

After dipping in Bardney at the Wragby Road/Saxon Way junction (10.45 - 11.05) this morning (Sat), I thought I'd try my luck with the Tentercroft Street Waxwings.

To avoid the Saturday traffic jams, I parked in Kesteven Street and walked over the bridge (11.30) There were 23 Waxwings perching in a tree opposite the car park, with birds occasionally flying down to the few remaining pinkish berries on one of the two Rowans.
Thanks, Alan, for the reminder!

Freddy
