The reserve was buzzing today with plenty of people walking off, I suspect, their New Year excesses! Me included! :D

Highlights for me were:-

Red-crested Pochard - 1 (f) (good views from both Reedbed Hide and V.C.)
Peregrine - 2
Hen Harrier - 1 (m)
Merlin - 1
Sparrowhawk - 1
Pink-footed Goose - 350+
Waxwing - 9
Lesser Redpoll - 12 (7 in hedgerow at end of car park, further 5 in hedgerow at the back of the reedbed)
Yellowhammer - 1
Chiffchaff - 1
(combined with the sunshine, this gregarious little fellow made the day feel positively Spring-like)

Happy 2013 everyone. D.
