Hi, I decided to spend some time looking for the female red-crested pochard that has been reported over the last couple of days. Unfortunately, despite other birders seeing it today, I did not manage to catch up with it. Other highlights included: Mute swan 13 Dark-bellied brent goose 680 Pale-bellied brent goose 4 Pink-footed goose 450 European white-fronted goose 2 Greylag goose 24 Little grebe 12 Little egret 9 Moorhen 29 Mallard 118 Shoveler 43 Pintail 21 Gadwall 36 Wigeon 190 Teal 97 Tufted duck 139 Scaup 4 Pochard 11 Goldeneye 10 Shelduck 18 Redshank 1 Lapwing 1100 Golden plover 850 Ruff 1m Curlew 49 Snipe 3 Dunlin 27 Kestrel 1m Merlin 1m Sparrowhawk 1m Hen harrier 1m Starling 180 Goldfinch 36 Meadow pipit 16 Rock pipit 1 Cheers, Simon. |

Good to meet you today Simon, thanks for the tip off about the White Fronted Geese, found them in fields over from the end car park. Flock of Curlew landed, but light was so poor couldn't count them, but I guess at 20. Hopefully you can sort out the dumped farm ducks and goose and hope they don't have a negative impact on the other birds. Andrew PS My wife, who had the Guide Dog enjoyed the sound of the Teal and Wigeon, natures real entertainment. |
