Out doing thrush surveys today i came across the following Mablethorpe sea front 2 red throated diver, 8 ringed plover Sutton ings mixed flock of 38 swans, 14 mute and 24 whooper (23 adults, 1 juv), 1 ad med gull Rimac 1 ringtail harrier plus 1 merlin, 18 shoveller on the large saltmarsh pool, 5 rock pipits, 375+ curlew on the foreshore but very few other waders. In 2 thrush surveys c 600 starling, 50 blackbirds, 4 mistle thrush, 3 song thrush and no ff or re. |

Thrush survey at Habertoft 6/1/13: Thrushes were thin on the ground, only 4 starling and 20 blackbird. Also: 2 red-leg partridge, 2 pied wag, 19 curlew, 1 meadow pipti, 1 kestrel, 3 wren, c60 lapwing. |

Thanks George. it looks as if the outmarsh is not the place for thrushes this winter. All the data is important though. The core squares are randomly selected across UK and should give us the most accurate population estimates of wintering thrushes to date. |
