I saw the Rough-leg within a minute of arriving at Gibraltar Point at 11 o'clock this morning. The bird gave excellent views as it fed on a Rabbit only 30-40 yards off the main track and alongside the circular pond which is just in from the northern car park. The only problem was that it was so close to the track, relatively speaking, that it would flush pretty much as soon as anyone walked past, and then take some time to return.

The drake Smew was showing on the Riverslea Pit at Kirkby-on-Bain, immediately below the conservatory of the house at the far end of the pit.
